Textured loop pile carpets
With a loop pile carpet, the yarn forms loops on the surface of the carpet, either in uniform height, or with differing heights to create a textured loop pile. One of the main benefits of loop pile carpet weaves is that they offer no visible footprinting or shading. That’s because the top pile has no movement. However, it may be disadvantageous if you have pets at home, with dogs and cats notorious for scratching and plucking the loops, causing them to break and creating unsightly areas of carpet.
Highly detailed patterned carpets
Our patterned carpets are located on the first floor of our Romford showroom. At Clarkes, we stock a great selection of traditional patterns, as well as contemporary designs, in man-made fibre and traditional wool mixes. Our in-house carpet fitters are highly experienced in the installation of these carpet styles, including aligning the pattern on staircases and between doorways.
Deep pile Saxony carpets
Saxony carpets tend to be longer, deep pile carpets, in order to create a plush, luxurious feel and effect. They are available in-store at Clarkes in both wool and man-made fibres and prove to be extremely popular in bedroom areas or living spaces where that extra softness underfoot does not go unnoticed. Put simply, the gorgeous deep pile of a Saxony carpet gives you the best available luxury at a competitive price.

Textured twist pile carpets
The twist pile carpets that we specify have been tightly twisted and set to form a pile with a slightly textured surface. Twist piles are available in plain and heather colours. They tend to be firmer to the touch than velvet pile carpets, offering better resistance to foot imprints in high-traffic locations around the home. Whether you are matching bold, bright colours or soft, subtle shades, twist piles are unsurpassed in their richness of colours, and are eminently suitable for complementing modern fabrics, paints, and wall hangings.
Soft velvet pile carpets
Velvet carpets have a soft, even pile. This results in supreme comfort underfoot. Velvet pile carpets are produced in a host of colours from glowing reds to cool blues, in a bid to provide a traditional or contemporary aesthetic to design-led interiors. A smooth velvet pile carpet can offer a luxurious lustre effect, associated with top-grade carpets and are similar to Saxony carpets in character and performance. However, if you are uncomfortable with the shading velvet pile tends to create due to footprints and vacuum cleaners, you might prefer a loop or twist pile carpet.

Visit our on-site warehouse and you’ll discover hundreds of rolls of stock carpet and sheet vinyl, all purchased at cost price. At Clarkes, we’re delighted to pass these savings onto our customers and sell our stock lines at warehouse prices, with immediate delivery available within a 20-mile radius for just £20, or optional fitting carried out by our in-house installers.
